I have a degree in Journalism from the University of Bucharest.

Print press and web publishing

I worked as editor and editor in chief for the IT industry magazine Computerworld Romania, both for the print issue and online content.

I also edited books and other short publications for Partners for Change, a non-profit association involved in educating and empowering Romanian women active in politics and business.

Translation work

I translated two non-fiction from English into Romanian:

- O istorie a Indiei (A History of India), by Hermann Kulke and Dietmar Rothermund, ARTEMIS, Bucharest 2003; See the English version on Amazon.

- Capcane pentru turisti (Tourist Trap), by Patrick Blackden, SEMNE, Bucharest 2004.; See the English version on Amazon.

I also did the translation for the production of Neil Simon’s Biloxi Blues, which premiered on the stage of the Bucharest Comedy Theatre in November 2006, under the direction of Iarina Demian. You can watch a trailer of the production on YouTube.

These days, besides writing fiction and writing and translating poetry, I do some editing (an example here), little handmade things and lately I have also found myself seduced by web design.

A little more

about me

I was born in Romania and spent most of my childhood in the small, well-dressed and always young town of Focsani. That is what I call home.

I lived in Bucharest also, for almost ten years, while I went to college and worked various jobs. Then my life suffered two enormous transfigurations: I met my husband (online) and moved to US to be with him, and then my daughter was born.

I am daily finding my ways in this new picture, broken in two pieces: one living here, in the Boston suburbs, with my Indian husband and American daughter, and another one back home in Romania, with my family and irreplaceable friends. A good piece of me (don’t try any math on this) longs for India too, where my husband’s family lives and which is home too.

So I write, while I weave, with my family, a path of our own out of the cultures of three continents, and I try to live my life with as much joy and awareness as I can muster (which is many times not that much, so send all the spiritual books my way, because I’d believe anything, so they tend to have great effect on me).
